WE BELIEVE HANDMADE IS THE FUTURE
When starting to design our dresses and kaftans we wanted to pursue the value of handmade items. If you take good care of them you can make them last forever.
We believe it’s better to invest in handmade quality than to be tempted by the industrial overproduction around us that diminishes the creator behind the product.
It is this awareness and conscious consumption that we want to pass on with all our items.
We want to go back to the origins, to the places where these traditions are anchored in the communities as a virtue, passed on through generations. The techniques and dexterity stay within the communities – this is something Western cultures have lost during the industrialization and globalization of recent years. Copying these techniques to assemble the items somewhere else in the world disrespects the heritage of it. So we chose to leave the creation process in these communities, in the original and true surroundings, as a way of respecting the tradition.
This results in the value of the items of Elpelut – it is what sets handmade and local apart from the substitutable products of industrial production.
